CLIMATIC CONDITIONS.The climate on Skopelos is of Mediterranean type, with mild and rainy winters, rainy springs, dry and hot summers and cool autumns.

Even in summer, 2-3 short showers on Skopelos will certainly cool the scorch and wash the pine vegetables, densely reaching down to fairytale blue-green beaches on the west and south sides of the island.

In general, the climate of Skopelos is mild and healthy. Summers are generally hot but due to the forest on the island, the heat is always bearable.

In August, when many times at nights there are north-eastern winds (meltemia), light pullovers are essential. In winter it rarely snows, but when it does, the island is wonderful.

Because of the geological terrain of the island, there are often microclimates, due to elevation, slope and exposure of the land.

The hottest months are July and August, while the coldest is January.

The annual average temperature is 16.2 degrees.

Rainfall has fluctuations, with the most rainy season between September and February.

​

The average annual rainfall is 749.2 mm while in years with increased rainfall 1000-1200mm.

​

The driest month is July, while the wettest are December and January.

Prevailing winds in the area are Northerly - North-Easterly, and they are due in winter to the anticyclones in Central Europe, and in the summer to the annual northeastern winds.

It does not snow every year, but when it snows, it covers even the beaches.
