Our olive groves

The olive groves of our family are located in the northwest part of the island of Skopelos and around the village of Glossa at an altitude of 250m, with a total area of 50 acres. The varieties cultivated are Amfissis or Pelion and Koroneiki. The fruit is harvested in traditional way (by hand – old method) and we press it directly in our Olive Press with cold pressed method.

Our olive oil comes from Skopelos traditional olive groves of amfissis (local skopelos) and koroneiki variety. We harvest the fruit in traditional way (by hand – old method) and we press it directly in our Olive Press with cold pressed method.

Distinguished for its high polyphenol and other antioxidant levels, its bright green color and fruity aroma. Its flavour is described as slightly pungent, juicy and fresh.

For 130 years our mill produces the extra virgin olive oil of the families of the island of Skopelos. Following tradition, we produce extra virgin olive oil with rich nutrients, the perfect aroma and the fruity taste of the fresh and healthy olive fruit.

The cultivation of the olive was an old-fashioned way of life for the inhabitants of Glossa and the island in general. The ``Antoniou`` oil mill is a traditional family business with a history of three generations from the operation of the first olive press in the small village of Skopelos Island.


A century of history begins ...

The ``Antoniou`` olive press is a traditional family business with a history of three generations since functioning the first olive press in the small village of Glossa. For over 130 years our mill produces the extra virgin olive oil of the families of the island of Skopelos.

The route begins in 1890 with the great grandfather Georgios I. Antoniou starting the creative journey of the family business. At that time, the beginning was made with the traditional way of crushing olives with the illstones and the help of the animals. Continuing in the second generation with the grandfather Ioannis G. Antoniou, traditional olive oil production goes in the most modern way, applying the hydraulic presses and today the centrifugal machines.

Following the tradition, the Antoniou family today produces, selects and standardizes for you the excellent quality extra virgin olive oil with its rich nutrients, the perfect aroma and the fruity taste of the fresh and healthy olive fruit, in its new modern facilities in Glossa Skopelos.

Tours at the Olive Museum

Our olive press museum and factory is accessible to the public all the year round.

Come and guide you step by step through the process of producing olive oil from the stones, mills and presses as the modern centrifugal machine of today.

The visitors can watch the process of producing olive oil from the harvest of the olives until the bottling of olive oil and learn interesting information about olive oil, olive trees and olives through audio-guide, photos and video.

Our site hosts exhibits of the old olive mill of the family and tools of traditional olive harvest from antiquity to the middle of the 20th century.

You can also try and buy our olive oil from in our small shop.
